We know that as a busy woman, you find little time to keep up with the ever-changing trends in the fashion industry. Then again, even spending some time to make your shopping decisions based on these trends doesn’t do you a lot of good, what with fashion trends changing in a flash, leaving your wardrobe with unused outfits that have apparently fizzled out of style in just a few months! So we thought we’d list out some wardrobe basics for busy women that never run out of style, to make it easier for you. Here goes!
White Shirt
Whether it’s a button-down blouse or a simple tee, the classic whites are an easy reach for any occasion. Wear them with a simple pair of jeans if you want to dress down and throw in a statement neckpiece or other accessories if you want to make your outfit more interesting. It’s hard to go wrong with these guys!
LBD
Let’s be honest, the little black dress is the classic wardrobe staple for any woman. If you’re going to be directly hopping from work to dinner parties often, you’re going to need these in your basic wardrobe! The LBD is versatile, appearing subtly stylish during the day and glamorous at night. Just make sure you pick something that flatters your body type and has a clean cut allowing you to dress down/dress up as the occasion demands.
Skirt
Today, pencil skirts and the like are no longer restricted to just the boardroom. So with a well-cut skirt that matches your body type in your wardrobe, all you’ll need is to pair it with the right top (a pretty tee or a cami maybe?) to wear it to work and that after-work party. Women with broad shoulders and a cinched waistline can look at straight-cut skirts with flare accents, while pencil skirts may be a good pick for curvy women. Petite women can play around with narrow skirts with ruffle trims.
Cardigan
Staying warm without flaunting the sharp cuts of a blazer, is a job that a feminine cardigan does well. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colours other than the traditional black or white with these basic wardrobe pieces. Cardigans in pastel hues almost always pair well with outfits, whether you’re wearing a dress, trousers or skirt!
Blue Jeans
The blue jeans are as basic as basic can get, and you can’t do without them in your wardrobe. Keep a pair of true-blue wash jeans in your wardrobe and you will be glad you have something that goes with almost everything in your wardrobe. They are perfect for those days when you want to spend little time (or effort) on deciding your outfit or if you have to run a quick errand, these jeans have got your back!
Nude Dressy Flats
It’s completely okay to take a break from your favorite pair of heels, we’re sure they’ll understand and what better to have step in their place but a pair of dressy flats! No, these aren’t just your usual flats that only sit well with causal outfits. Dressy flats are perfect for women who are always on the go, matching well with work trousers to sundresses, so you don’t have to carry a spare pair of shoes in your car.
Scarf
We’ve all got our comfort zone when it comes to dressing styles, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wear the same look each day. You’ll be surprised to see how much a simple scarf can do to a plain unimaginative outfit, and with little effort. Whether you are partial to plaid or stripe patterns, skirts or trousers, wrap a fun scarf around your neck and watch it transform the outfit into something else! The best bit is scarves are extremely understated accessories, so while they do a lot to your ensemble, they aren’t as distracting as some other accessories.
Trench Coat
Keeps you warm and stylish, trench coats are perfect if you want to add some layering in the cold weather! You can wear them over a pair of jeans or a pretty dress, to make your outfit look classier. Trench coats can be made casual by pairing them with ballet flats or flat boots, and dressier with heels or heeled ankle boots.
