With the release of the new Jurassic Park movie, it seems everything’s coming up dinosaurs once again. My little guy’s first noise was a grunt that resembled a dinosaur. And to this day, it is his signature noise. His “give me more,” or “that looks fun” grunt. And whenever he hears the word “dinosaur” he gives a big “rawr” in that groggy little voice.
If you have a boy or a girl who loves dinosaurs and you need a good idea for a birthday party theme, here are some ways to create an awesome dinosaur themed party. This is recommended for boys and girls aged 5-10. Of course, every child is different and your little T-Rex might enjoy a dinosaur party much sooner.
First, you are going to need to send out invitations. Yes, even in this highly digital age, kids enjoy receiving physical invites that stimulate their senses. There is a great dinosaur stamp set that Melissa & Doug makes (available at AlexandAlexa) that you can use to create crafty and cute invitations. Your little guy or girl would love making them and they would set the tone for the entire party theme. Plus, they can be used again later for other dinosaur craft projects.
For decorations, you can find unique dinosaur balloons from John Lewis to put around the house. Let them run around the yard with the dinosaur shaped balloons, roaring and chasing each other. Burning some of the energy from all the party food is good for them!
Instead of doing birthday cake, make some dinosaur shaped cookies. House of Fraser sells these awesome 3D dinosaur cookie cutters that you and the birthday kid-asaurus can use to make cookies together. It’s a great way to bond and let your little dinosaur lover be creative. Use it as a way to test their dinosaur knowledge as you decorate the cookies. Just beware, they will probably want to make dinosaur shaped cookies all the time!
Chances are, your little dinosaur lover will already have dinosaur pieces in their closet. But if they don’t, get them a dinosaur printed shirt to wear to the party. You can even ask guests who own dinosaur print items to wear them too. J. Crew has a good selection of graphic tees, and you are sure to find a dinosaur print one.
Finally, once your party is in full swing and the kids are ready to roar, they will need something to keep them entertained (besides those dinosaur balloons). Yogee Toys makes a fun dinosaur race game that you can find at Orchard Toys. This is the perfect activity for dinosaur lovers.
