A few weeks ago, Modern Family’s Phil Dunphy provided inspiration for finding the perfect gifts for the men in your life. While Part 1 was about the accessories, clothes and sporting gifts your man must have, this week is all about reaching the men who are still children at heart. Much like Phil Dunphy, men hold onto their youth. Next time you talk to your man, ask him about what his interests were when he was a child and he’ll undoubtedly go into a long story of how certain things and TV shows affected him and made him into who is he today. (Power Rangers had an effect on me and even today I still want to be one). Once you get an idea of what he liked as a child go out and get him something related to that topic because deep down men would rather a Batman poster on their wall than a piece by Van Gogh.
Men love electronics, maybe because they’re easily considered as toys for ‘big boys’. Even Phil Dunphy’s list of “things I want” included electronics, admittedly his were items like a bug vacuum and a yoghurt maker, but you get the point. Cool new innovative gadgets are things men love – we’re tinkerers, we always love to build, play and explore new things. Here are a few things your man might like:
Music is another great present for him, even something as simple as tickets to a concert he wants to go to, or a special edition record or CD from his favorite band, like the Ramones or Led Zeppelin. If he’s a musician, or likes to dabble, you could always buy him an instrument, music books or accessories for his instrument (guitarists always need picks and tuners).
Games. Men love games. Whether it is the latest console that’s come out or the latest game that they’ve preordered. If he’s into gaming, look around for the newest release games in his favourite genre, or simplify things by purchasing gaming accessories such as new controllers or a charging dock. If you want to go all out, you could even get him the newest gaming console or device.
