During the summer months, I’m pretty sure you want to spend less time worrying about what to wear, and more time enjoying some well-deserved summertime activities. That’s why right now is the perfect moment to stock up on effortless fashion pieces that are fun, comfortable and easy to wear; and that you can have fun styling later for cooler days. One of my favourites is the romper, and there is, my friend, more than one reason for this.
Let me start by pointing out that, just like dresses, you don’t have to worry about spending extra minutes or even hours in front of the mirror matching pieces. All you have to do is slip it on and you are out the door ready for a new adventure. Then, because the bottoms are pants, you don’t have to feel constricted when partaking in summer-y events like picnicking, riding a bike or walking down a windy boardwalk. This leaves you to give more of your attention and energy to your fabulous summer experience.
Rompers, or jumpsuits, come in all sorts of fun colours, exciting prints, and even designs. So much so that I’m pretty sure you’ll find one to match your taste, style and summer mood. Pair your romper with any kind of shoes, from flat sandals to wedges to booties to sexy gladiator sandals or heels. Add fun coloured shoes and accessories to a printed romper, and make it your mission to find fun printed shoes and bags to pair with your solid coloured rompers. You can also have fun pairing solid coloured accessories, or jewellery with sparkle to create an eye catching look. Think a chic black romper with stunning red heels and ruby inspired accessories for a night out on the town. Pick a printed romper and pair it with a messy ponytail and chandelier earrings for a flirty look. You can also wear it over your bathing suit as a cover up during your next beach or pool day! I’m telling you, the possibilities are endless. You just have to get creative when styling it for different occasions and places.
Come the fall you can still wear this versatile and friendly piece with tights, boots and a jacket. Remember that summer pieces don’t have to go straight into storage once the temperatures drop. All you have to do is add layers and heavier pieces that you, I’m pretty sure, already have in your wardrobe waiting to be taken out for the upcoming season. Try over the knee socks, knee high boots and a leather jacket. You can also experiment with opaque tights, cowgirl-inspired booties and a denim jacket with a hoodie or sweater underneath for an ‘I’m-wearing-shorts’ look. I believe in your fashion transformation powers!
Now that you have several ideas on how to style a romper for summer and fall, let’s address the fact that a lot of people think that rompers are not made for their body. However, I completely disagree. There are different designs, fits and fabrics out there; and I think it’s just a matter of trial and error until you find that perfect piece for you. Ones with spaghetti straps that fit loosely and tie at the waist tend to be a flattering cut, so you may want to start there. Always remember that not all brands and fabrics are created equal, so keep on the search. I guarantee you’ll inevitably find the perfect match for you. REVOLVEclothing.com has some fantastic styles guaranteed to suit.
