There are many trends in fashion that come and go. And when we look back at pictures of ourselves embracing those trends, we are usually grateful! There are also trends in fashion that come, go and come back. Or maybe they never really left. These trends can best be described as “timeless,” because they know no end.
Some of these timeless trends existed decades ago, and have evolved into newer versions today. Even children’s fashion has pieces that have withstood the test of time. Here are six timeless children’s pieces.
Overalls
Many moons ago, children (mostly boys) wore overalls and worked on their farms. Overalls are often associated with a more “country” lifestyle because of this. However, today, kids wear overalls whether or not they are working on a farm. You can pair overalls with different styles of shirts and shoes to really create some unique and stylish looks. Frankie & Ava makes cute overalls that your guy can wear.
Rompers
Little girls have been wearing rompers on and off for several decades. And today they are a trend that keeps growing. There are short versions and long versions, some with sleeves and some without. This timeless piece is versatile and so easy to wear.
Button Down Shirts
For many children who attend private school, a button down is part of their daily uniform. But even before private schools existed, the button down trend did. You can wear a button down with khakis, or under a sweater. Girls can pair with a skirt or jeans. This fashion trend isn’t going anywhere for awhile.
Bloomers
How cute do babies look in bloomers? I am sure one of the reasons bloomers have continued to evolve is because you can’t find a baby wearing them who doesn’t look adorable. Back before even my parents were born, babies were sporting bloomers, mostly under dresses, but today you can even find them frolicking around with bloomers and no top at all. And that too, is so cute!
Beret Hats
One of the easiest ways to add some sophistication to an outfit is to add a stylish accessory. You may remember how boys used to wear berets with knee length style bloomer pants. Today, they wear the hat with more contemporary pieces like jeans or other nice pants. How much fun navy beret with a tartan flower from AlexandAlexa?
Headbands
Back in the 1960s and 1970s, young girls would wear their hair flipped out and would wear a thick headband to set the look. Today this is still a popular trend, although many girls wear their hair straight or curled instead of flipped out.
Many years from now, people might look back at the trends of today and balk. “What were they thinking?” they might ask. But when it comes to these 6 fashion pieces, the question will be, “How can I make this look as good as they did back then?”
