Activewear to exercise in style
Though we might see celebrities looking great in their fashionable activewear, many people might find it hard to get the balance right between being comfortable to exercise and look stylish enough to take to them from the gym to the cafe. So, let’s explore some stylish exercise gear ideas that you could use for both your workout and after! We’ve built a collection for you to browse if you need some new pieces.
Fashionable activewear – crop tops and tanks
The 90s fashion staple, crop tops, are great if you look like a Victoria’s Secret model or you have already done the work on your abs! However they cannot be worn to the cafe alone but can be used as a layering piece by anyone for the after gym activities. Tank tops are also a great activewear staple that can hold up for your post-workout social gatherings. Think scooped armholes, racer back straps, in either patterns or solid colours.
Print or patterns?
Prints sit well with solids, so if you have plain workout pants or shorts, a printed sweatshirt will match well with it, and if you have printed pants or shorts it is better to pair them with a solid colour up top. Sounds simple? Yes, but it looks great in its simplicity.
Exercise gear – Neon colours
Workout wear does not necessarily mean that you have to play it safe with a black/white or grey theme. This is where neon or accent colours can come into play! But remember, less is more! Make sure you have some activewear in the basic colours first and then enjoy adding some bright colour to change the look.
Baseball caps
Baseball caps do not receive their due appreciation, especially when you think of how well they do double duty as workout and after-gym clothes. If there is one thing that you should be worrying about when you are going directly from the gym to the cafe, it is workout hair. Attending social commitments with dishevelled hair, is not where any of us would want to find ourselves. A faithful baseball cap makes the dreaded workout hair seem not so scary. They keep those stray hairs away from your face when you workout, and keep your messy workout hair under the hood post-workout. What’s not to like?
Exercise gear – Jackets
Jackets are an essential activewear piece, especially when you are unsure what the day is going to offer when you step out of the gym. They are versatile in that they can hide either your top or your bottom (!) and will keep you warm if needed. Whether you are simply looking at keeping those glutes out of view for a while, or for something that goes well with your gym shorts, these guys have your back!
A great excuse for some new activewear is the need to look good when you start your new exercise program. Although we can’t always look like those celebrities we see in the magazines, we can come close if we follow these style tips.
